Certificate of conformance (CoC)

A certificate of conformance is a signed statement from a supplier that the parts shipped meet the requirements of the purchase order and drawing.

A CoC, also written C of C, typically lists the customer, PO number, part number and revision, quantity shipped, material and lot, and any special processes, with a statement that the product conforms to the stated requirements and the signature of an authorized person. Many customers have their own required wording or format, and aerospace and defense POs often specify exactly what the CoC must say.

The two common small-shop problems are formatting each customer's version by hand and finding an old one later. When a customer calls asking for the C of C from a shipment months ago, the answer shouldn't be digging through a filing cabinet.

In Traveler, each customer record holds its CoC template choice, the CoC is generated at shipping from the job's own data, and every one is archived per job and retrievable in two clicks.
