Terms that will apply to Shop Server orders
Last updated October 18, 2026
Ordering opens soon. We aren't taking orders or deposits yet. These are the terms that will apply once ordering opens, published now so you and your purchasing team can review them in advance. Holding your place is free and commits you to nothing.
The short version: you own the box, the software license never expires, the deposit is refundable until it ships, you have 30 days to return it, and it keeps working whether or not you ever pay us again. The details are below, in plain English. Same software as Traveler Cloud, just in your building.
1. What you're buying
A Shop Server is two things: the physical hardware, which you own outright once it's paid for, and a perpetual, non-exclusive license to run the Traveler software on that box. The license doesn't expire, isn't tied to a subscription, and covers unlimited users at your shop.
There are two builds: Shop Server ($4,250) and Shop Server Defense ($6,500). Optional Floor Kiosk units are $299 each, or $249 each when you order 3 or more. The license is for the box it ships on. It isn't for copying onto other hardware or reselling as a hosted service.
2. Ordering and quotes
Ordering opens soon. Until then you can hold your place for free with the reservation form on /shop-server (no payment), and get a printable quote at /shop-server/quote to route through purchasing, a grant application or a PO ahead of time.
Quotes are honored for 30 days from the date printed on them. After that we'll happily reissue one at current pricing. An order is confirmed when we send you an order confirmation by email.
3. Deposit
A $250 deposit holds a unit in the current build batch. It's refundable in full, for any reason, any time before your box ships. Just ask and we refund it to the original payment method.
The deposit isn't an extra fee. It's applied to the price of your Shop Server, so you pay the balance, not the full price on top of it.
4. Payment
The balance is due before your box ships. We accept card, ACH bank transfer, and invoice against a purchase order. You can also pay in full up front instead of placing a deposit.
Prices are in US dollars. If a payment fails or a PO invoice goes unpaid, we hold shipment until it's sorted out; we don't add surprise fees.
5. Shipping and delivery
Free ground shipping in the contiguous US. The estimated lead time is 4–6 weeks from order to ship, and we'll email you if that date moves. If we can't ship when we said, you can cancel and get a full refund of everything you've paid.
Risk of loss passes to you when the box is delivered to your shipping address. If it arrives damaged or goes missing in transit, tell us and we'll replace it; you don't have to file the carrier claim.
6. Returns
You can return a Shop Server for any reason within 30 days of delivery. If it comes back in working condition, with its accessories, we refund what you paid in full. No restocking fee. We send a prepaid return label.
Before you ship it back, export your data (one click from the box). Once the box is returned we securely wipe it, and we can't recover anything from it afterward.
7. Hardware warranty
Every box comes with a 1 year hardware warranty from delivery covering defects in materials and workmanship. If a box fails, we ship a replacement first (advance replacement), you restore from your backup, and you send the old unit back in the same packaging.
The warranty doesn't cover damage from accidents, liquid, power surges without a UPS, or opening the case and modifying the hardware. Drives that fail are replaced, but your data on them is protected by your own backups, so keep those running.
8. Software updates and the continuity plan
Your purchase includes 12 months of software updates from the day your box ships. Updates are signed, and you choose when to install them.
After that, updates continue with the optional continuity plan: $59/mo for Shop Server and $99/mo for Shop Server Defense. It also covers encrypted off-site backup, phone access away from the shop, and support. It's billed monthly and you can cancel any time. If you never start it, or you stop, nothing on the box turns off.
9. The Ownership Pledge
This is part of the contract, not marketing. First, the box keeps working forever without paying us anything more: no license timer, no read-only mode, no lockout if a license check-in is missed.
Second, data export is always available, from the box itself, in open formats, with or without a plan. Third, there's no forced cloud migration. We won't sunset the on-prem edition to push you onto a subscription.
10. Support
Support covers getting the box set up, using the Traveler software, diagnosing hardware faults, and restoring from backup. It's included during the first 12 months and with the continuity plan after that.
It doesn't cover your network, firewall, PCs, printers, or Wi-Fi, or your compliance program. Your IT provider or MSP is the right call for those, and we're glad to work with them.
11. Remote access
We have no standing access to your box. A remote support session happens only when you start it from the box and approve it, it ends when the session ends, and every session is logged on your box.
On Shop Server Defense, remote sessions are handled by US persons only. You can run the box with no remote access at all; support then happens by phone, email, and screen share from your side.
12. Export control and compliance
Shop Servers ship to US addresses only. You're responsible for your own export-control obligations (ITAR, EAR) for the technical data you store on the box, including who you let use it.
The box keeps CUI and technical data on your own network instead of a third-party cloud and supports the NIST SP 800-171 controls described at /shop-server/security. It doesn't by itself make your shop compliant with or certified under any regulation. Your shop owns its System Security Plan and its controls.
13. Limitation of liability
Except where the law doesn't allow it, our total liability for any claim about a Shop Server is limited to what you paid for it, and neither of us is liable for indirect or consequential losses like lost profits or lost data.
Other than the warranty and pledge above, the box and software are provided as-is. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer or commercial law that can't be waived.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by US law and the laws of the seller's home state. We'd always rather fix a problem by talking to you first, so please contact us before anything else.
15. Sales tax
Prices don't include sales tax. Where we're required to collect it, it's added at checkout or on your invoice. If your business is exempt, send us your exemption or resale certificate before the balance is invoiced.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future orders. The version in effect when your order is confirmed is the one that applies to your purchase, and changes never take away the Ownership Pledge for a box you already bought.
Questions about these terms before you order? Read the setup guide, the security and responsibility matrix, or how to pay for it.
Terms, in one line each
▸Is the deposit really refundable?
Yes. The $250 deposit is refundable in full, for any reason, any time before your box ships, and it's applied to the price when you pay the balance.
▸What if I stop paying for the continuity plan?
Nothing turns off. The box keeps running all of the software forever and your data export keeps working. You stop receiving new updates, off-site backup, phone access away from the shop and support until you resume.
▸Can I return it if it isn't a fit?
Yes. Return it within 30 days of delivery in working condition and we refund what you paid in full, with a prepaid return label and no restocking fee. Export your data first.
▸What happens if the hardware fails?
During the 1 year warranty we ship a replacement box first, you restore from your backup, and then you send the old one back.
