Quantity breaks

Quantity breaks are the set of quantities on a quote, such as 25, 50, and 100, each with its own unit price reflecting setup spread over more parts and any volume material savings.

Buyers ask for breaks because they want to see where the price curve flattens. The shop's unit price at each break is roughly setup divided by quantity, plus run time and material per piece, plus outside processing (often with lot minimums), plus margin. Small quantities carry a lot of setup per piece; larger quantities spread it thin.

Doing breaks in a spreadsheet is where quoting mistakes hide: a lot charge applied once instead of per lot, material calculated for one break and copied to the others, or margin that quietly drops below your floor at the highest quantity.

Traveler is designed so a quote line can carry multiple quantity breaks, with setup amortized automatically, margin shown per break, and a warning when a break falls below your configured margin floor. The customer can pick the break they want when accepting the quote online.
